“Zambia” was completed during the corona pandemic with the cooperation of various professional musicians. As a result of the pandemic, the time that was freed up by canceled performances, they worked with great enthusiasm on the songs, leaving them as much space as possible for their own input. That has made this album versatile. Paul is very grateful for their contribution as well as to his friend Co Vergouwen for his two compositions and the role of producer he has taken on himself.

He combines a loungy feel with Jazz in the style of George Benson, Ronny Jordan, Lee Ritenour etc. There are elements of Samba, HipHop, Salsa, Fusion and Funk to be heard. With these ingredients he creates variety without losing the concept.
The songs consist of strong melodies in combination with Jazz improvisations. This wasn’t possible without the help of his colleagues, who set their big mark on this album. On the first album Co Vergouwen (keyboards, production and mixing) and Mark Eshuis (drums and percussion), were the solid base. On this album Rense Lemaire (bass) also has become a member of this formula, joined by Erik Smans (keyboards), Joost Verbraak (trumpet) and Gijs van Oosterhout (saxophone). During the making of “Urban Jazz Talk” percussionist Jeroen de Rijk joined this adventure as well and contributed to the album.
The digital version of the album contains 13 compositions by Paul Eerhart and is coming out on 19th May 2017 and can be found in most digital download and streaming stores worldwide. The physical version of this CD has 2 additional bonus tracks (covers) and can be ordered by email (paulroberteerhart@live.nl) at the price of € 15.- incl. shipping costs.

Yet another stunning new signing from the Lemongrassmusic universe. With Paul Eerhart the label’s spice expands with an excitingly fresh nuance of jazz flavoured tunes. Be prepared for finest Smooth Jazz with Hip-Hop, Latin and Lounge influences, played by an excellent ensemble of musicians.

On fairly young age Paul Eerhart discovered his passion for playing the guitar. It came in a rush when he was 16 years old and heard Mark Knopfler and the Dire Straits playing on an English radio station. Soon he got fascinated by various guitar geniuses leaving a mark on his individual style. Santana, Al Di Meola, Paco de Lucia, Robben Ford, Larry Carlton as well as Joe Pass, Steve Lukather, Mike Stern and Scott Henderson – to name a few. Later on Paul studied at the Academy of Music in Rotterdam (Rotterdams Conservatorium), followed master classes with Pat Metheny and Garrison Fewell. He had the privilege of attending a number of private lessons and master classes given by Joe Pass (also known from his collaboration with Ella Fitzgerald).

The idea for the album arose when Paul was relaxing with some friends at a beach bar in Scheveningen (Holland). They were playing lounge music. Paul liked the vibe of the sound, but nothing was really happening musically. That was the moment, when he decided to make similar music but featuring his Gibson L5 jazz guitar.

The track’s warm, homogeneous sounds are a fine representation of the abiding mood of the album as a whole, both soulful and groove-laden. With a sparkling joy for playing Paul Eerhart & his band represent of what is possible with a well-played instrument. Paul’s beautifully textured song writing and production draw on his musical heritage as much as it break new ground. So let your mind get bended and step into the groove with Paul’s Jazz Lounge…

The musicians:
Paul Eerhart – guitars
Co Vergouwen – keys
Mark Eshuis – drums
Johannes Adema – bass
Thomas Verbraak – trumpet
