Man In A Room “Remixed” is a brand-new collection of re-imaginings and reinterpretations of Irish song writer and producer Steven Connolly. Fine artists from the Lemongrassmusic roster have gathered to rework many of Man In A Room’s vocal releases of the recent years. Steven has been releasing 4 EPs and 1 album on Lemongrassmusic since 2011.
Like the original songs, these new works are a medley of sound and style. New sonics, beautifully crafted by a much respected company of producers from around the globe. spanning Sweden, USA, Spain, Italy, Netherlands, Germany, France and Norway. The productions breathe a new spirit into many of these familiar tracks and animate a fresh and expanding imprint.

Man In A Room is back. The Irish multi-genre producer again offers some very select productions. In today’s content driven world, we may have found a respite. Opening with the classical “Refuge For Scarcities”, this piece remains discreet, resolutely patient and with its solo guitar and violin it carves out an ample space to reside in. Away from the colossal content we may wish to defect from.
Next up comes “Idlewild” – a wandering jazzy lounger in unusual 6/8 time. Warm tones and virtuoso Jazz piano at work here.
The final track is inspired by recent travels in Japan. Initially unhinged on arrival but all too soon realizing the magic of this stunning country. Relived via this Ambient allegory.

“The Redolence” is full of colour, tone and fragrant soundscapes. Capturing vivid image, tribute and great sentiment.

Music, movement, nature and from the writer’s perspective, the nature of music itself. This is another centered collection from song writer/producer Steven Connolly. Featuring new voices and musicians from Europe and the Americas. We’ve come to expect a collection of varying styles throughout from this Irish artist.

Not being so prolific in output, MAN IN A ROOM has never believed in churning out productions. Not until a concept is visualized and an idea is fully formed. Reinvention is the motivating factor each and every time. The EP embraces deep down-tempo beats, unusual spoken word, soaring vocals and lighter laid-back vibes. A vivid piece of work with deep electronic sounds that are entwined with acoustic instrumentation. Strong, introspective lyrical themes are nestled alongside freeing and outward looking instrumentals.

A very worthy excursion into a very suggestive side of Chillout music.

“Pursuits” is MAN IN A ROOM’s new 5 track EP and the return of Song Writer/Producer Steven Connolly after his debut LP “The Alchemist’s Apprentice” which was released on Lemongrassmusic in 2012.

As we’ve come to expect from Steven, the narrative is all important in his works. Lyrically, these themes are chasing undefined targets. This is in order to reflect the unspecified interests, longing and desires of someone. Indeed, anyone who may be in pursuit of an experience or achievement which will never quite be fulfilled. More aptly described as “Sehnsucht” (German). An unsatisfied desire that is itself more desirable that any other satisfaction…

This is “Pursuits” intention and is yet another shift toward this new ground. Expect Cinematic Funk, Trip-Hop, Lounge and World Music. As ever, MIAR has managed to switch gears throughout. With a rich array of sound, instrumentation and superb performances from its guest vocalists and musicians. This EP has enough to offer the most eclectically minded of listeners.

Song writer and producer, Steven Connolly has finally released his debut Album and it has been a long wait. It is not for the want of creativity from this Irish man. It is quite simply that this LP has allot of ground to cover. The work itself endeavors to convey the joys, the struggles and the mystery of a human condition.

With an epic cinematic opening instrumental, we begin with a mystery and there is a real sense of journey from here on inwards. We find many observations and milestones as we progress deeper. Each subject and song is so carefully considered and guided beautifully by deep and atmospheric soundscapes. These are spaces to get lost in… or maybe to be found in?. We find some smooth grooves here also, which will carry the listener through but be in no doubt. This is “Thinking Man’s” music. These are moments of contemplation. From light to dark. From strength to weakness. Life, Love, Mortality and Hope.

MAN IN A ROOM tries in earnest to grasp these, sometimes very illusive questions. Its all to easy to be distracted from them but this work manages to bring them sharply back in focus. It is both an observation and a celebration. The music manages to keep its feet firmly on the ground. All the while projecting itself into the clouds. There is always this juxtaposition in Steven’s work.

“Alchemy is a magical power or process of transmuting a common substance, into a substance of great value”. And as the title suggests, this is indeed the overriding theme of this Album. There is a sense that everyone’s journey will and must change… eventually. Numerous guest vocalists are featured throughout. Each bringing their own character. Again this adds to the LP’s constant evolution. With a very powerful closing instrumental and soaring vocal, we come full circle. We end as we have begun. With the mystery.

So all that is left for us to do, is to take our part in the journey itself…
