“Jasmon” is one of the most evocative world-influenced electronic music projects from the German label Lemongrassmusic, created by producer Roland Voss, widely known for his work under the alias Lemongrass. Since the late 1990s, Jasmon has explored the intersection of Lounge, Ambient, Downbeat and World Music, blending electronic production with traditional instruments and global cultural influences. The project emerged during a collaboration between Roland Voss and the Berlin-based producer Genetic Drugs. Early releases already combined modern electronic beats with field recordings and musical inspirations from India and Africa, establishing the distinctive Jasmon sound – a warm, atmospheric fusion of electronica and world music textures. Over the years, Jasmon has released several acclaimed albums including Gentle Flowers, Cosmic Trigger, Hammock Dreams and Shangri-La, gaining international recognition in the Chillout and Lounge scene. The music is characterized by organic instrumentation, gentle grooves and cinematic soundscapes that invite listeners on a sonic journey across cultures and landscapes.

A close collaborator within the Jasmon universe is “Slow World”, the project of German composer and producer Daniel Voss. As Roland’s brother and long-time musical partner, Daniel Voss is also co-founder of the Lemongrassmusic label and contributes keyboards, programming and atmospheric arrangements to many productions. Under the name “Slow World”, Daniel Voss focuses on deeply immersive Ambient and Chillout soundscapes inspired by Asian cultures and philosophies. His music frequently incorporates traditional instruments such as koto, erhu, shakuhachi and yangqin, layered over subtle electronic textures and orchestral elements to create a tranquil and meditative listening experience.

Together, “Jasmon” and “Slow World” represent two complementary creative forces within the Lemongrassmusic family. Their collaborations merge Roland Voss’s World-Lounge aesthetics with Daniel Voss’s Ambient and Cinematic sensibilities, resulting in music that is both soothing and culturally rich.

Their first collaboration album “Asian Spirit” showcases this synergy beautifully: a musical journey through Asian-inspired soundscapes, where traditional instruments, gentle rhythms and modern electronic production meet to create a timeless atmosphere of serenity, travel and discovery.
